Landfill Biogas
The natural decomposition of materials deposited in landfills creates more man-made methane than any other source. Landfills continue to face increasingly tough waste gas venting regulations. The same collection system that flares and wastes landfill gas can fuel a turbine to generate renewable energy and dramatically reduce greenhouse emissions.
The Ener-Core Powerstation is Designed to Provide Several Advantages for Landfills:
- Intended for ultra-low quality, low pressure, contaminant-rich gas streams, which can be efficiently transformed into clean air and ongoing revenue from electricity sales.
- Designed for fuel flexibility, with the ability to operate on gas with as little as 1.5% methane. This has the potential to offer an unprecedented value proposition to utilize ultra-low quality gas from closed or small landfills, perimeter gas which blends with and deteriorates overall gas quality, or tail gas from a hydrocarbon processing plant.
- Aimed to achieve less than 1 part per million of NOx emissions, making the system ideal for sites with emissions sensitivities. The Ener-Core Powerstation is designed to meet the most stringent air quality regulations and simplify permitting.
- Designed for minimal compression or fuel conditioning. The Ener-Core Powerstation is intended to handle siloxanes in gas, and tolerate up to 6500ppm of hydrogen sulfide in the fuel gas stream depending on methane content.
- Engineered for smooth operation despite fluctuations in gas composition and impurities (within given limits).
The most efficient Powerstation configuration for low quality landfill gas is an ultra-low Btu Configuration, as it enables a site to use its ultra-low Btu gas, while avoiding methane and NOx air pollution.
